Job Description

Position Title:

Assistant Dean for Faculty Development

Department/School:

School of Science

Salary/Pay Rate:

$12500

Job Summary:

The Marist University School of Science seeks qualified candidates for the Assistant Dean for Faculty Development to begin July 1 2025.

This position is responsible for coordinating efforts related to pedagogical growth and professional development of over 40 fulltime graduate and undergraduate faculty in the School of Science.

This is a 3 year renewable position that provides a stipend and course releases.

Minimum Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a currently employed fulltime faculty member that has been awarded promotion in their time at Marist and that has a strong interest in and commitment to faculty growth and development.

Essential Functions:

Faculty Workload:
  • Prepare graduate faculty workload report
  • Liaise with Professional Programs for Summer and Winter course offerings and for Summer PreCollege programming
  • Assist leaders with curricular proposals and changes and program reviews
  • Works with leaders on annual assessment reports as needed
  • Liaise with departments undergoing accreditation reviews as needed
Faculty Development:
  • Coordinate Faculty Learning Community
  • Interface with Office of Grants and Sponsored Research
  • Oversee SOS Mentoring program
  • Assist with new F/T faculty onboarding
  • P/T faculty orientation
  • Assist with organizing Peer Review process
  • Track classroom observations (P/T and F/T)
  • Recruit faculty for admissions events
HighImpact Practices:
  • SOS Internship oversight
  • Liaise with Marist international programs (MAP)
  • Coordinate (Summer) undergraduate research
  • Liaise with Honors program

Assist with Communications and Marketing:

  • Assist with the biannual SOS Newsletter
  • Facilitate content for digital screens
  • Assist with preparation of Advisory Board materials

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior administrative experience in a higher education setting.
