Internal & External Collaboration Development and Management 35- Serve as a point of contact for Alternative Break (AB) executive CORE members Advisors AB partnerships and current and potential partners across campus (CSL Departmental Deans Student Senate etc. meeting regularly with Coordinators/Directors Advisors and campus partners.
- Support incoming/outgoing Directors in facilitating volunteer CORE interviews selection new coordinator hiring and turnover tasks.
- Maintain availability during all academic breaks to manage Alternative Break experiences in partnership with the CoDirectors; especially as it relates to financial emergencies.
- Meet with participants and site leaders of Alternative Breaks to explain all financial procedures in relation to financial site packets payments scholarships reimbursements et cetera.
- Meet at least monthly with the ABs Advisors and other Directors to discuss internal management and financial planning.
- Meet at least biweekly with other Directors (Trip Public Relations Managing and Executive) to discuss updates on finances internal management and AB programming.
- Serve as the lead contact for the Finance Team (volunteer) and an effective point of contact for potential community partners. Organize and lead biweekly meetings regularly with the Finance Team (volunteer) in partnership with the Executive Director.
Fundraising & Sponsorships 30- Lead the planning and of at least one fundraising event per semester in coordination with the volunteer Fundraising Coordinator(s).
- Lead development and management of partnerships across campus to support AB and AB participants.
Fund Management 25- Manage AB funds and financial accounts with AB Executive Director; supporting the volunteer Accounting Coordinator in timelybudget updates to ensure decisions are made as responsibly as possible.
- Lead preparation of financial packets for each break processing reimbursements preparingand presenting with assistancefrom the Executive Director for funding requests attending meetings with potential sponsors and aiding participants in questions about scholarships and payments.
Process Documentation & Development 5- Develop and follow a standard annual timeline and process for finance planning and fundraising occurrences to ensure Alternative Breaks can continue to operateaccessibly and efficiently for participants.
- Document processes related to internal and external communication as related to finances partnerships sponsorships and alike to create a manual/guide for future AB leaders and to ensure communication is prompt and relevant.

Position OverviewThe Student Finance Director oversees tracks finances for all Alternative Break programs. They are responsible forprocessing reimbursements preparing financial packets for each break preparingand presenting all funding requests for Student Senate (Block Funding Educational Opportunity Fund and LineItem funding) seeking additional sponsorships or funding opportunities and managing the Alternative Breaks budget. The Student Finance Director explains all financial procedures to site leaders and participants and with their projections helps the CoDirectors set program costs for participants. This Director will help with Fundraising and Accounting Coordinators responsibilities and serve as the lead point of contact for fundraising efforts researching grants and other fundgenerating opportunities.
The Student Finance Director must make themselves available to other Directors and their Alternative Break CORE team during the upcoming summer and throughout the duration of their position including during Alternative Breaks travel periods and for turnover the following year. The Student Finance Director reports to the two Alternative Breaks CoDirectors and is supported by their Staff Advisor(s).
Hiring weekly hour maximum and hourly rate of pay are contingent on KU Student Senate funding.
Per the State of Kansas student employees may hold concurrent appointments not to exceed
maximum appointment and hours worked levels. However concurrent student appointments must be of matching FLSA designation (exempt/salaried or nonexempt/hourly).
