Responsibilities
The Global Procurement Representative is primarily responsible for executing the procurement strategies of raw materials developed by the Global Sourcing team. You will be expected to deliver on the daily activities of purchasing and securing raw materials from defined strategies and contracts and sourcing new materials. Additionally you will be expected to negotiate small to midsize value contracts nonstandard buys low dollar volume buys or items that are not strategically sourced. You will be expected to meet internal client objectives while achieving maximum overall cost effectiveness for Eastman.
This position reports to the Strategic Sourcing Manager for the NAR Direct Buyer Team and will directly interact with Global Sourcing Managers other internal stakeholders and external vendors. The Representative will be responsible to procure General Plant & Utilities chemicals at all NAR sites. The strongest candidates will have exceptional attention to detail topnotch problemsolving skills be comfortable with conflict and able to work well and productively within a team. Background in serviceoriented roles including customer service supply chain logistics sales or related field may be helpful.
This position would be ideal for a candidate seeking an entry into a commercial role who has the drive desire and potential to develop their career through progression to higher level roles in the Sourcing & Procurement organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Processes and documents all ProcuretoPay transactions in an efficient and accurate manner by working with the Procurement Manager Sourcing Managers Accounts Payable and key stakeholders in the business units
- Obtain and analyze pricing bids spot buys and quotes to determine proper sourcing of raw materials indirect materials and/or services
- Negotiate pricing payment terms and exercise a high degree of independent judgment to manage vendor relationships
- Identify and implement cost savings and avoidance opportunities without impacting service levels
- Work to minimize the total cost of transactions.
- Initiate set up process for new vendors.
- Resolve blocked invoice issues.
- Uphold internal and external policies regulations and laws
- Assist with contract development and entries into contract management system
- Seek to become the expert and source of advice in area of assignment.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in supply chain preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of procurement experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to forge and collaborate with internal customer/external supplier relationships.
- Understanding of contracts and commercial terms
- Comprehensive knowledge of purchasing and basic understanding of supply chain management
- Expertise in SAP and/or SAPAriba data processing systems preferred
- Ability to comply with existing/quickly adapt to new processes within the organization; Adaptive to change uncertain circumstances embraces challenges
- Exceptional attention to detail and problemsolving skills
- Ability to work in team environment and demonstrate leadership
- Negotiation skills
- Comfortable with conflict
