Job Summary
Responsible for general accounting and financial reporting functions for local management. Establish maintain and coordinate the Implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures. Responsible for the preparation of accurate financial reports and supporting schedules as required. Analyze and review budgets expenditures and variances.
The successful candidate will be a key contributor within the Financial Settlements & Accounting team reporting to the Manager Financial Settlements. This position will work closely with other members of the broader CAO organization as well as with various trade floor functions such as Front Office Deal Clearing Contract Management and Risk Management. Job requirements include but are not limited to the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Settle reconcile and invoice financially settled commodity transactions within the companys energy trading risk management (ETRM) system
- Reconcile and manage exchangetraded positions between internal ETRM and 3rd parties (over the counter and financial clearing organizations)
- Work close with trading desks risk and accounting management to assist in new transaction review and capture within the ETRM in order to optimize needs across teams
- Ensure financial results of financially settled activity is properly accounted for and reflected in the companys accounting systems within corporate closing deadlines
- Prepare monthly journal entries ensuring clerical accuracy and appropriate support documentation and reconcile associated general ledger accounts
- Assist with meeting monthly close deadlines and related reporting deliverables as assigned including quarterly and yearend financial disclosures and internal management reporting consumed by the executive management team
- Prepare compliance and support documentation for internal control and review purposes including SOX 404 compliance requirements
- Identify process enhancements with a mind toward continuous improvement; assist with the implementation of such improvements
- Document job processes and procedures as required based upon changes in business processes commercial transaction life cycles etc
- Support the team through proactive initiative and assistance to optimize efforts across team members
- Prepare other adhoc reports/schedules as required
Additional Qualifications
- Desktop application skills including but not limited to Excel Word or equivalents (advanced Excel skills highly preferred including the ability to write complex formulas and engineer related solutions)
- Peoplesoft experience is preferred but not required
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment as a selfstarting independent contributor and problem solver under limited supervision
- Ability to manage multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy and selfadministration
- Ability to work overtime during peak accounting close periods to meet deadlines (monthend and quarterend)
Job Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Business or Accounting.
- Requires 36 years experience in related field CPA preferred.
- Industry experienced preferred.
