Job Description

WHO ARE WE

Bordering Denver to the south the City of Englewood is a vibrant city of over 34000 residents and over 2100 businesses. It is a tightknit community with a small city atmosphere yet has all of the benefits associated with the larger Denver metropolitan area. The city is served by light rail and bus transit systems linking the community to downtown Denver and other locations including Denver International Airport. The city owns a golf course water park and 17 programmed parks.

Over 700 fulltime parttime and seasonal employees work for the city which is a fullservice city providing policing water sewer and other services to the community. Voters elect a seven member City Council which sets policies makes laws (ordinance) and approves the citys budget. The Council appoints a City Attorney and a City Manager who is responsible for managing the day to day aspects of the citys departments.

Englewood has a detailed visionary strategic plan that runs through 2025 with several exciting initiatives and programs including:

  • Implementing of a sustainability program including the implementation of a lowwaste event policy; creation of a Green Team to engage employees in sustainability efforts; and developing and implementing a electric vehicle plan;
  • Encouraging community wellbeing for all including programs for teens and tweens active and robust library programming and making programs at the Golf Course and other programs as accessible as possible;
  • Providing job training programs and initiatives to encourage vibrant businessareas across the cityincluding the establishmentof unique programs designedthrough job training to assistpeople who are housingvulnerable and experiencinghomelessness; and
  • Developing and implementingstrategies to seek out fundingsources to improve ourroads water wastewater andstormwater infrastructure.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Information Technology Department provides the first line of analysis problemsolving technical assistance support and solutions to staff for end user digital devices audiovisual networks and applications. Provides routine desktop administration technical implementations operating system imaging systems analysis support for City applications and maintains asset inventories.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: IT Operations Manager

Direct Reports: None

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The listed examples of work are not intended to be allinclusive. They may be modified with additions deletions or changes as necessary.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work with IT Operations staff and users to keep systems uptodate and operating efficiently.
  • Assist with requests from a broad range of users for technical support at a designated location.
  • Effectively communicates with IT Department staff and users in oral and written formats.
  • Prioritize and appropriately escalates issues to assure timely problem resolution. Carries out factfinding and analysis of problems; determines most effective problem resolution procedures. Suggests tests and evaluates solutions.
  • Utilize citys asset management system to manage the desktop OS environment assets including but not limited to remote control patch management software distribution operating system deployment network access protection and hardware and software inventory.
  • Analyze and resolve computer hardware software and network issues repairs user workstations modifies configurations.
  • Assist other technical staff members in support of major or complex projects. Writes documentation for related projects.
  • Will learn about city technology standards and policies. Monitor and ensure the proper and effective use of the Citys technology investments and user adherence to City usage policies and procedures. Notify management of security and appropriate usage violations.

PREPARATION AND TRAINING

Education:

Intern I High school diploma or GED plus one year of undergraduate studies toward completion of a bachelors degree in a related field.

Intern II Bachelors degree plus one year of experience in specific department or progress toward completion of a masters degree in a related field

Intern III High school diploma or GED plus at least one year of undergraduate studies toward completion of a bachelors degree in a STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) field.

Intern IV Post graduate degree (beyond Masters degree) example: PhD JD etc.

Certifications and/or Licensures: None

Required Drivers License: None

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge

Knowledge of the policies procedures and goals of the City of Englewood and the department

Knowledge and experience in the use of office equipment

Knowledge of the principles and practices of conducting research

Skills and Abilities

Skills in the use of Microsoft Office Word and Excel Programs

Skill in the use of standard office software

Ability to understand and interpret various forms of information

Ability to draft documents

Ability to read interpret and clearly explain policies to a variety of constituents

Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees elected officials boards and commissions other jurisdictions and members of the general public.

Ability to listen well and communicate effectively orally and in writing with various audiences.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a standard office environment requiring sitting for extended periods of time and occasional light lifting (up to 50 lbs.. Job requires visual and physical capabilities to perform work on computers and associated equipment for prolonged periods of time 46 hours daily).

HOURLY RATE:

Intern I: $18.00/hour

Intern II: $22.00/hour

Intern III: $23.50$25.00/hour

Intern IV: $25.00$30.00/hour
