Organization Summary

The LA Conservation Corps (the Corps) is a private nonprofit organization that has helped atrisk young adults develop themselves since 1986. To date more than 20000 young people have participated in the Corps classes and service projects learning new skills while contributing to the quality of life for residents of the greater Los Angeles area.

Mission
The primary mission of the LA Conservation Corps is to provide atrisk young adults with opportunities for success through job skills training education and work experience with an emphasis on conservation and service projects that benefit the community.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Compliance Officer & General Counsel the Compliance Assistant position contributes to the organizations success by ensuring that the organization is in compliance with all contractual obligations. The position is responsible for organizing and maintaining all contract files maintaining and updating internal contract tracking tools managing all contract reporting deadlines drafting contract summary sheets drafting minor agency agreements assisting with internal and external audits and implementing records retention policies and practices.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Organize Compliance departments contracts and related records
  • Assist with monitoring compliance with all contract reporting requirements.
  • Maintain and update contract tracking systems and contract database in Sage.
  • Prepare summaries of contractual agreements.
  • Assist with the coordination of audits or monitoring reviews by funders.
  • Assist with responding to requests from external auditors and program monitors.
  • Assist with conducting internal and external site reviews and audits to monitor compliance with organizational policies and procedures and contractual obligations.
  • Monitor electronic and physical record retention processes including file organization and cataloging.
  • Manage compliance calendar assist with scheduling site visits internal and external auditing deadlines and compliance training.

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma (from an accredited institution).
  • A minimum of one 1 year of experience in quality assurance database management audits contract compliance and working in the areas of contracts and grants management.
  • Experience with information management systems for data collection and reporting purposes.
  • Experience with Excel Word PowerPoint Teams SharePoint Adobe.
  • Bachelors degree (from an accredited institution) in a related field preferred.
  • Experience in nonprofit contract compliance working in the areas of contracts and government grant management preferred.
  • Previous experience working as a secretary or in the nonprofit or public sector preferred.

Other Duties and Requirements

  • Pass a postoffer drug/alcohol screen test before commencing employment (required to submit for the drug/alcohol screening at a company designated facility).
  • Pass a postoffer Live Scan (fingerprint/background clearanceDepartment of Justice) before commencing employment.
  • If a private vehicle is utilized for company purposes validation of a California Class C Drivers License validation of driving record and approval of commercial policy insurability is required in conjunction with proof of personal minimum liability insurance coverage per the requirements of the state of California.
  • Reference checks will be conducted; employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable references.

Salary and Benefits

  • Hourly rate: $23.19 $28.54 (reflects the entire hourly rate range). A starting hourly rate higher than $23.19 per hour is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale (hourly rate range).
