Position Overview:

As part of CBHs executive management team the Director of Research Strategy and Innovation is responsible for identifying opportunities through external funding or strategic partnerships with academic community physical health managed care or governmental partners that are in alignment with CBHs organizational mission vision and strategic goals. The Director of Research and Strategic Initiatives is responsible for initiating monitoring and supporting research collaborations with partners external to CBH including City research leadership and academic researchers.

Responsibilities include identifying grant opportunities managing CBHs grant development processes when applicable monitoring expenses and other reporting requirements required by the funder; developing and implementing strategic initiatives that intersects with research grants and academia managing CBHs collaborations with academic partners including use of CBH data by external partners acquiring access to relevant City data. The Director of Research Strategy and Innovation initiatives will also work collaboratively with colleagues in the development of reports briefs infographics presentations manuscripts and other related outputs to disseminate and promote key findings from strategic initiatives that reflect the organizations priorities.

  • Assist in assuring both internal and external program integrity by being alert to and reporting suspected instances of provider and employee fraud waste or abuse.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees grant identification organization of teams collaboration with internalCityexternal entities as appropriate writing and submission.
  • Provide guidance and consultation to CBH staff in other departments who are managing grants.
  • Provide strong leadership and drive organizational maturity in grant management processes.
  • Engage key internal and external stakeholders necessary for drafting proposals and implementing new initiatives.
  • Manage contracts with external institutions that are related to research evaluation and innovations.
  • Publish routine reports that effectively communicate progress risk and achievements of strategic initiatives.
  • Manage and coordinate across grants and innovative programming to ensure that information relating to project deliverables risks and issues are effectively communicated between stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the DBHIDS Grants Management Unit and ensure efforts are coordinated and aligned across the broader system.
  • Develops and implements a standardized disciplined approach to CBHs process for reviewing evaluating and supporting external requests for collaboration (e.g. letters of support)
  • Serves as academic liaison and principal investigator; sits on internal and external committees related to research & evaluation
  • Serve as point of contact for all requests for CBH letters of support for grant proposals.

Education Requirements:

  • Education: Doctoral degree (PhD DrPH PharmD ScD) or MSc/MPH from a recognized school of psychology medicine public health management pharmacy or economics in health services research social science/behavioral health epidemiology public health or significant work experience in behavioral health services research epidemiology public health or health economics strongly desired
  • Relevant Work Experience: Minimum of five 5 years of postgraduate work experience preferably in the behavioral health field and experience managing and writing grants.
  • Demonstrated success with obtaining grant funding.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative programs and interventions.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and implement strategic plans.
  • A minimum of three 3 years supervisory experience is required.

Philadelphia Residency Requirement:

  • The successful candidate must be a current Philadelphia resident or become a resident within six months of hire.
