The Role: Associate Director Risk & Compliance

The Team: The Sustainable1 Business Risk & Compliance within the ETSS team works in partnership within Sustainable1s global business and legal stakeholders to identify track manage and report on both potential and actual business risks and conflicts of interest.

The Impact: The Associate Director Risk & Compliance will be instrumental in the Compliance program for the ETSS/Sustainable1 business. This position will report directly to the Global Head of Risk & Compliance for Sustainable1. The role encompasses various responsibilities including: (i) monitoring compliancerelated activities of ETSS/Sustainable1 employees (ii) providing education and training (iii) reporting compliance developments to management and (iv) engaging in reviews investigations and other adhoc compliance activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement Compliance policies and guidelines that align with regulatory standards.
  • Supervise daily compliance operations ensuring adherence to policies and monitoring emerging regulations.
  • Deliver training and educational resources to Sustainable1 employees regarding policies and procedures.
  • Assess potential risks to the Sustainable1 business and support the development of mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and document instances of policy violations.
  • Provide regular updates on Compliance matters to the Head of Business Risk & Compliance for S1.
  • Actively participate in and when appropriate lead Compliance investigations while upholding confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with Legal Government Affairs and Public Policy teams on engagements with regulators and policymakers.
  • Identify design and implement enhancements to Compliance processes and workflows.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed and current on trends and advancements in the regulatory and Compliance sectors with a specific emphasis on sustainability.
  • Actively engage in pertinent Risk & Compliance Committees as needed.
  • Help Divisional Compliance teams and the Enterprise Compliance team when required.

Whatwe are looking for:

  • 5 years of experience in Compliance is preferred.
  • A bachelors degree is mandatory.
  • Experience in the ESG/Sustainability domain is an asset.
  • Strong commitment to ethics and integrity with the ability to maintain independence on critical issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills fostering a collaborative and growthoriented mindset.
  • Highly analytical solutionsfocused and detailoriented.
  • Capable of articulating guidance in a clear and concise manner.
  • Quick to identify problems and work towards enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to deliver compliance training to individuals at all levels.
  • Selfmotivated and wellorganized adept at prioritizing tasks and thriving under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain a global perspective while collaborating with diverse colleagues across various jurisdictions.
  • Proficient in Excel Word and PowerPoint with a preference for experience in Smartsheet.
