Job Description

BronxWorks helps individuals and families improve their economic and social wellbeing. From toddlers to seniors we feed shelter teach and support our neighbors to build a stronger community. YEARS OF EXPERIENCErequired and/or preferred.

  • Two yearsrelatedexperience.
  • ProficiencyinEnglish andSpanish preferred
  • ProficiencyinmodernbusinesscommunicationsincludingMicrosoftOffice
  • Engagingpersonalityanddetailedorientatedskillsareessential.
  • Strong oral and written communication time management and organizational skills are necessary.

EDUCATIONcredentialsthatarerequiredand/orpreferredforthisopening.

  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • AssociateDegreeand/orsomecollege preferred
  • Credential or certification in social work human services family services counseling or a related field.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help ensure for high quality programming. Offer input on program goals program design and evaluation of program activities
  • Enterparticipantsandprogramdataintovariouscomputerdatabasesandothertrackingsystemsandensurethatsystems areuptodate
  • Assistwithgeneratingstatisticalreports
  • Gatherinformationneededforproposalsreportsandprogrammanagement
  • Ensurethatparticipantsfilescontainrequiredpaperworkandinformation
  • Updateinformationoncommunityresources(e.g.bulletinboards)
  • Pickupanddeliverpackagesproposalsandreportsthroughouttheagencyandcity
  • Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned by manager

ProgramSpecificResponsibilities

  • Recruit and enroll children and families into BronxWorks programs (UPK 3K Head Start)
  • Work with families to develop strengthbased plan of action to meet their needs
  • Conduct parent meetings including training and workshops
  • Conduct Home Visits
  • Followup on family and participant referrals
  • Enterparticipantsandprogramdataintovariouscomputerdatabasesandothertrackingsystems
  • Provide coverage in the classroom during lunch and as needed.
  • Support Teachers and Director to create and maintain an educationally enriching environment includesbulletinboards displays and library.
  • Supportfamilieswith3KUPKandKindergarten application and transition process
  • Support Program Assistant with 3k and UPK enrollment process includes documents collection verification and acceptance
  • Provide general clerical support including filing faxing word processing and typing and photocopying

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Good writing skills.
  • Ability to work with infants and preschool children from ages of 05 years.
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to stand walk or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent countries via public transportation. Ability to travel for minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time in all types of weather including inclement weather.
  • TB Test required with the first 120 days of employment
