Assignment: Music Arts & Drama (M.A.D. Program)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent with a specialization/experience in English;
  • Significant coursework in drama and/or theatre;
  • Significant experience teaching music arts and drama at the secondary level;
  • Experience teaching students performing at wideranging levels of achievement;
  • Experience organizing and delivering programming through a variety of instructional interventions and adaptations that will help the student succeed;
  • Possession of a current Standard FirstAid certificate;
  • Experience teaching and working with Yukon First Nations students is an asset;
  • Ability and experience with sound boards lights and technology required for productions would be an asset;
  • Experience in music production and recording show production and direction would be an asset;
  • Basic carpentry skills for set construction would be an asset.


DESIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:

Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:

  • Ability to incorporate Grade 912 English Curriculum into theatre productions;
  • Ability to adapt curriculum to meet and challenge a range of student learning styles and abilities;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and collaborative skills working with parents students and a multiple member instructional team connections to local theatre groups;
  • Strong classroom management planning and organizational skills;
  • Keen interest and ability to contribute to overall school goals;
  • Willingness to work in a flexible and everchanging experiential environment;
  • Ability to work both independently and with a coprogram instructor to motivate learners;
  • Willingness and ability to work as a member of a professional team to promote and work collaboratively to support school initiatives and the total school program;
  • Ability to differentiate instruction using current assessment for learning pedagogy and practice;
  • Experience helping to implement Individual Education Plans Student Learning and Behavior Plans for students with Special Needs;
  • A knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations students.
