About the role
The office based Design Manager is needed to provide management for the assigned design projects or the design/engineering component of wider projects and will have specific capabilities such as HV and protection design or primary design.
Day to day you will:
- Provide technical problem solving /technical engineering advice within the business for projects and bid development;
- Managing team of lead designers secondary designers to ensure project performance whilst being the technical interface between the PMs and Engineering department.
- Manage external contractor design and technical interface with clients.
- Contribute and be part of teams responsible for services engagement (internal and external) in engineering design construction and commissioning;
- Coordinate and Technically Lead the engineering & design project team assigned to ensure project is planned design processes followed (Design & SID reviews etc. and scope design budgets timing technical communication and technical integration is managed;
- Ensure compliance of design with the relevant design standards statutory regulations and Australian Standards;
- Implement value engineering initiatives throughout the entire project lifecycle;
- Provide sitebased engineering support during project construction and commissioning phases.
Specific qualifications and experience required include:
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronic Engineering that will allow admission as Corporate Member of Institute of Engineers Australia. (CPEng is desirable)
- Skills and experience of a technical nature in utility substations transmission lines commissioning solar or BESS allowing you to provide quality and interface coordination reviews. (EPC and HV secondary systems experience would be highly desirable)
- Previous experience developing and maintain design programs & deliverables registers to satisfy contractual requirements desired
- Current SA Drivers license
