TITLE: 4th& 5thProgram Coordinator LOCATION: Brookings REPORTS TO: Elementary Director CLASSIFIED: FullTime Exempt MISSION: To inspire and enable all young people especially those who need us most to realize their full potential as productive responsible and caring citizens. JOB SUMMARY: The 4th & 5th Grade Program Coordinator is responsible for planning developing implementing and evaluating engaging programs tailored to members in 4th and 5th grade. This position plays a key role in fostering a positive safe and enriching environment that aligns with the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains values: Teamwork Impact Driven Excellence and Good Character. The Program Coordinator ensures highquality programming by incorporating the five key elements of positive youth development: fun safety recognition opportunities & expectations and supportive relationships. This role also includes supporting staff overseeing program operations and contributing to the Clubs overall mission. JOB DUTIES: Program Development & Implementation: - Develop plan and oversee engaging and impactful programming for 4th and 5th graders ensuring it meets the needs and interests of members.
- Ensure programming aligns with Club values and supports positive youth development.
- Collaborate with staff to create and implement special projects grantfunded programs and events.
- Oversee program logistics ensuring smooth daily operations in 4th & 5th grade programming.
- Manage programrelated budget and grant requirements.
- Communicate regularly with the Elementary Director regarding Club operations and program effectiveness.
- Submit required program updates for newsletters reports and other publications.
- Be available to support Club operations during unexpected full days (e.g. snow days) to ensure continued service.
- Continuously evaluate program effectiveness ensuring a highquality experience for all participants.
- Establish a safe supportive and fun environment for members.
- Lead and facilitate Junior Youth of the Year Program and other leadership opportunities for members.
- Work with community partners to enhance programming and services.
- Assist with promoting the Club and recruiting new members.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Administrative/Management: - Supervise support and evaluate program staff ensuring they uphold Club values and provide a highquality experience for youth.
- Conduct team meetings and oneonone checkins with direct reports.
- Assist in hiring training and evaluating program staff including 60day and annual performance reviews.
- Manage discipline and behavioral challenges particularly in 4th & 5th grade spaces the Gym and the Caf.
- Ensure staffing needs are met including gathering availability and assisting in schedule creation.
- Participate in weekly team meetings monthly allstaff meetings and ongoing training.
- Assist in orienting new members and their families to the Club.
- Support special events and Clubwide initiatives as needed.
- Responsible for managing certain budget line items and grant requirements.
- Responsible for creating the staff schedule.
EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS: - A bachelors degree or three years equivalent experience in a similar field is preferred.
- Minimum of 1year experience with youth services organizations
- Passion for youth development and commitment to the Boys & Girls Club mission.
- Strong leadership communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to engage inspire and support youth and staff.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fastpaced dynamic environment.
- Experience in program planning youth engagement and team leadership preferred.
- Must be able to understand implement and demonstrate principles of behavior management and other youth treatment modalities per the Club training and values of fun supportive relationships recognition opportunities and expectations and safety.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Must be of the mental and physical capacity to observe interact and communicate with youth staff volunteers parents etc. at the Club to ensure safety of the space and others provide guidance and reflection per the Clubs priority outcomes and goals.
- Ability to stand/sit for long periods of time throughout a shift.
- Ability to operate various types of general office equipment including PC telephone copier etc.
