Job Posting Summary

The School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy University invites qualified candidates for a 12month faculty position as an Assistant or Associate Professor rank in the Communication Disorders Program in the School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy University beginning July 1 2025. This is an opportunity to join a group of engaged faculty in an established undergraduate and graduate Communication Disorders program.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

As a faculty member this position includes teaching academic advising research mentoring responsibilities scholarship and service to the program/University. Preference given to applicants with a background serving a diverse student background with special interest in diversity equity and inclusion initiatives.

Mercy University is a nonsectarian nonprofit New York metropolitan area institution offering over 90 undergraduate and graduate programs. The University has an enrollment of approximately 9000 students from diverse backgrounds across four campuses in Westchester County and New York City. As Mercy College proudly serves a diverse student body and is a Federally designated Hispanicserving institution faculty are dedicated to providing students with access to a transformative education though academic quality and robust student support.

Salary and rank are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. In addition there are growing opportunities for interprofessional collaboration with other School of Health and Natural Sciences faculty including PT OT OTA Nursing and Physician Assistant.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills; exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively as a member of a dynamic team in a fastpaced growthoriented environment
  • Prior teaching experience in a Communication Disorders/SpeechLanguage Pathology Program
  • Innovative use of educational technology
  • ASHA CCCSLP certification and licensure or eligibility for SLP licensure in New York State
  • Earned Doctoral Degree (PhD or EdD) in SLP or a related field
  • Experience in teaching research interprofessional education and incorporating technology into teaching and professional practice is highly desirable
  • Experience teaching a diverse student body

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a clinically practicing SLP
  • Experience as a clinically practicing SLP
  • Experience facilitating diversity equity and inclusion initiatives.

Education Requirements:

  • Earned Doctoral degree (PhD or EdD) in SLP or a related field. ABD may be considered
  • Eligibility for New York SLP licensure
  • Earned CCCSLP licensure
