DescriptionPrimary Duties & Responsibilities
- Work closely with the laser system engineers in support of all assigned engineering tasks in the program.
- Main tasks may include:
- Testing optomechanical and/or optoelectronic components and systems .
- Setup and perform detailed lab experiments.
- Prepare technical reports summarizing findings and recommending solutions to technical problems.
- Assist in the selection and setup of specialized test equipment.
- Maintain a clean organized lab environment.
- Work with calibration department to maintain equipment calibration for assigned work area.
- Maintain an electronic journal of all laboratory work during the internship
Education & Experience
- H.S. Diploma and working toward college degree required.
- B.S. preferred working towards a graduate degree in Optical Engineering Laser Physics Mechatronics Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Materials Engineering or related fields.
Skills
- Hands on lab skills:
- Familiarity with a lab environment
- Experience with diagnostic equipment such as infrared detectors oscilloscopes function generators and data acquisition systems a plus.
- The successful candidate will also demonstrate willingness and selfmotivation to pursue knowledge within these fields where experience is lacking.
- Software skills:
- Experience with CAD tools or a willingness to learn.
- Experience with data analysis in Python or similar is a plus.
- The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic selfstarter who takes ownership of commitments and enjoys working in a dynamic collaborative team environment.
- Detail oriented with well refined troubleshooting skills and techniques while working under minimal supervision.
- Personal time management project management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Responsive and reliable Can be counted on by others.
