Founded in 1647 Boston Public Schools (BPS) is the oldest public school district in the country. With approximately 57000 students from more than 114 different countries nearly 9000 employees (including 4800 teachers) and an annual budget of $1 Billion BPS is the largest school district in Massachusetts and one of the most diverse as well. The Office of Grants and External Funding provides fiscal and strategic support to schools and central offices to manage more than 100 Federal State and Private grants received by and housed in the Boston Public Schools while ensuring all grant dollars are strategically allocated and comply with regulations. Working closely with school principals headmasters departmental managers and senior financial management team this position will provide targeted support for the development implementation and monitoring of the $132M in State and Federal grants supporting the ambitious educational mission of the Boston Public Schools with finite financial resources.

Responsibilities:
- Grant development and support: Provide targeted support for competitive and crossfunctional grants (such as budget development monitoring amendments and spenddown support). Assist the Director of Grants and External Funding during the budget development process with a lens on sustainability and strategic allocation of dollars.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with the Budget Department in support of schools and departments with grants (e.g. budget development knowledge of purpose and eligibility of funds). Work with departments to analyze data to better understand program impact and returnoninvestment for the greater whole of the district.Represent the Finance Division serving as the grant point person on strategic initiatives crossfunctional working groups and key departments
- Streamlining of grants processes: Assist in implementing a streamlined grant management process (reducing the number of steps and touchpoints involved increasing transparency shortening the time period between grant award and funding availability)
- Building capacity: Build capacity within the organization to understand and manage grant finances. Create and update documentation of prudent grant management practices and policies and training documentation for Program Managers.
- Manage Title I Title IIA and Title IV Applications: Manage the Title I Title IIA and Title IV application and amendment process with the Director.
- Communication: develop content for and manage the Grants page of the BPS website create and send quarterly grants newsletters effectively communicate key dates and pieces of information to key stakeholders and constantly maintain high levels of communication and transparency.
- Manage the Grant Review Team process: Manage the districts Intent to Apply processpreapplication review and submission of grants.
- Audit support: Assist with audits as necessary.
- Other: Represent the Office of Grants and External Funding serving as the financial point
person on strategic initiatives crossfunctional working groups and key departments and
perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Grants and External Funding.
- Management: Ability to manage other staff members Grant Coordinators Interns etc.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelors Degree required.
- 35 years experience in a relevant field
- Strong oral and written communication skills excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience with data analysis of large data sets
- Experience managing multiple projects deadlines and timelines
- Proficiency with technology and office software such as Google Suite and Microsoft Office
- Ability to advise and negotiate comfortably with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Ability to prioritize competing demands
Qualifications Preferred:
- Masters Degree in education business public policy or related field preferred
- Experience working with financial systems preferably PeopleSoft
