Job Description
The Real Asset Engineering Team is looking for a Sr Business Analyst with experience in data analysis and SQL. The successful candidate will be experienced in working closely with the business to gather and document detailed requirements and help iteratively provide solutions. This position requires someone with high attention to detail strong sense of creativity ownership integrity and strong analytical & problemsolving skills. The candidate is expected to possess working knowledge in data analytics and financial reporting coupled with the ability to translate business requirements into solutions while working with engineering. The position also requires experience in SQL to create efficient queries and/or views to support the building of reports within the RA applications.
Accountabilities:
- Facilitate requirements gathering sessions.Document and validate results with subject matter experts and drive the creation of strong system specifications that enable the development and/or acquisition of appropriate systems to meet business requirements.
- Liaise with application developers and CPP Investments business subject matter experts to brainstorm and document innovative solutions alternatives. Evaluate alternatives relative to business requirements and provide advice that is rooted in deep subject matter expertise.
- Participate in process design meetings and translating outcomes into asis and tobe process design flows identifying efficiencies and leveraging the capability of digital resources.
- Conduct process walkthroughs and validation with business subject matter experts. Document the key risks mitigating controls performance measures cost drivers and business continuity plans for processes.
- Apply analytical and technical skills to investigate daytoday system and business issues determine the root cause and deliver viable solutions.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of business requirements functional specifications and project deliverables. Generate reports and updates for stakeholders executive leadership and project sponsors to communicate project status risks and issues.
Qualifications :
- 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst working directly with the business stakeholders product owners and engineering team to build complex solutions in the financial/investment industry
- 5 years of experience and working with relational database technologies (e.g. Oracle MS SQL Server or AWS Athena). Proficiency with SQL is a must.
- Experience working with nonrelational databases (such as ElasticSearch MongoDB or AWS DynamoDB) is a plus.
- Experience with BigData technologies such as Apache Spark is a plus.
- Experience with one or more programming languages is required (preferably Python).
- Ability to perform data mapping blending and ETL design using available programming languages.
- Developing and executing tests to ensure the accuracy and completeness of solutions delivered.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation related to application requirements and data analysis.
- Ability to develop Data Visualizations using Python and/or Tableau is a plus.
- Other duties as required such as participating in Scrum process by acting as Scrum Master for team as needed.
- Previous work experience in an investments operational role would be a strong asset
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent credentials in Business Intelligence Data Analytics Data Visualization or relevant discipline with a strong appetite for quantitative and statistical data
- Proven process development skills and solid understanding of project life cycle and the capability to apply best practices knowledge to unique and dynamic situations.
- Proven ability to liaise with business subject matters in gathering of business requirements.
- Exceptional (written and verbal) communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical skills and problemsolving abilities
- Able to deliver in a constantly changing and fast paced organization
