Job Description
Are you passionate about bikes and bike repairs and excited to make a difference in the local community Do you have a vibrant Christian faith and are excited to see young people reach their full potential At Heartbeat Bikes we are looking for a customerorientated Bike Shop Manager to lead a team of young people as they grow in confidence skill and hope.
About Heartbeat Bikes & Stepping Stones
Located in Brampton Heartbeat Bikes is a community Bike Shop specializing in affordable bike repairs and the refurbishment and sale of secondhand bikes. Heartbeat Bikes is a division of Stepping Stones Property Services. At Stepping Stones and Heartbeat Bikes we desire to equip youth for success see them build a sustainable livelihood and create a network of support and resources. To do so we hire youth ages 1625 with employment barriers training them not only in the landscaping trade and in bike repair but also helping them to gain general employability and life skills. Through caring mentoring relationships youth will be encouraged to discover their gifts intrinsic value and purpose.
The Heartbeat Bikes Bike Shop Managerwill oversee the operation of the bike shop. This includes: leading and training youth employees and all volunteers; providing excellent customer service; tuning and maintaining bikes; promoting the bike shop; building connections with local agencies and churches; and spiritual and life mentoring for all participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to youth employees and all volunteers
- Provide excellent customer service
- Supervise and participate in the repair maintenance and refurbishment of bikes following ExperiencePlus standards
- Oversee bike shop operations ordering parts managing inventory accounting and reporting
- Build connections with local agencies and churches
- Recruitment of volunteers and participants
- Offer spiritual and life mentoring to volunteers and participants
Key Requirements:
We are looking for someone with:
- Pursue a vital spiritual life and growing relationship with God as a devoted follower of Jesus Christ
- Be a faithful and contributing member of a local church
- 23 years of bike shop experience or other equivalent
- Proficient in bike maintenance and repair
- A ministry heart and a desire to mentor and invest in young people.
Position Information:
This position has parttime and fulltime options ranging from 17 to 40 hours/week. The salary of this staff position is determined on a scale based on education and experience and is 100 funded on a missionary basis requiring the successful applicant to fundraise and gather a personal support team.
