Who We Are:
Washington State Department of Services for the Blind is working together with individuals who are Blind DeafBlind or Low Vision so they can flourish in their homes communities and workplaces.. DSBs Vocational Rehabilitation program assists individuals with visual disabilities achieve gainful employment and economic vitality through integration into the nations workforce while assisting businesses with accessibility training consultation recruitment and retention of qualified employees. Together these services lead to the greater employment of qualified Blind Deaf Blind and Low Vision individuals and more accessible and diverse businesses.
About the Opportunity:
In this role you will manage the agencys curriculum vendors and resources for training Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) customers in selfemployment skills and business management. You will coordinate VR customers selfemployment services collaborate with VR counselors and the Business Enterprise Program (BEP) team members to facilitate feasibility skill acquisition and training to successfully operate a business. This position also involves identifying specific training needs coordinating internal and external resources and developing and delivering training programs to ensure the success of VR customers in selfemployment and/or the BEP.Duties
Some of What Youll Enjoy Doing Includes:
- Coordinating and facilitating referrals applications and training for business entrepreneurship for agency customers and for the BEP with VR Counselors and staff
- Developing tools and resources to support small business development acquisition and sustainability
- Develop deliver and manage training curriculum for owning and operating a concession vending micromarket and/or food service operation within the BEP
- Develop and deliver a training plan coordinating instruction for BEP Owner candidates to learn the necessary skills to become a successful entrepreneur and BEP vendor
- Assessing agency selfemployment training needs and facilitating program outcomes
- Collaborating with leadership managers to identify develop and implement training strategies as well as identifying external courses and providing skills training
- Serving as a selfemployment specialist working with leaders to identify gaps and opportunities
- Evaluating the effectiveness of selfemployment training programs and incorporating feedback for continuous improvements
- Acting as the point of contact for individuals interested in the BEP career pathway
- Orienting individuals to available selfemployment services and curriculum and establishing expectations and responsibilities
- Collaborating with agency customers VR Counselor and agency program staff to develop a skills development plan for each participant interested in selfemployment using identified curriculum vendors and resources
- Monitoring Consult on customer progress through their skills development plan working with VR Counselors BEP participants external contractors training providers and agencies
- Maintaining case documentation and records of customer interactions for VR customers who are referred to the BEP program
- Performing administrative and fiscal documentation for activities authorized for customer training
- Providing scheduled reviews of vendors operational and financial acumen and coordinating support and training as needed
- Other duties as needed
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in business education vocational rehabilitation learning development or a closely related field that demonstrates the skills and abilities in instructing on selfemployment small business development planning training delivery evaluation and/or employee development; AND
- Three 3 years of combined experience with program and curriculum development training and selfemployment consultation.
OR- Any combination of relevant experience and education that demonstrates the skills and abilities in instructing on selfemployment small business development planning training delivery evaluation and/or employee development totaling seven 7 years.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience in small business and entrepreneurial development
- Experience in identifying training needs or gaps of entrepreneurial development programs
- Experience with vending micro markets and food service operations
- Solid foundation and knowledge of Adult Learning and Development principles
