Your role
As a Senior Analyst in our team you will provide a high degree of specialized support to Directors and Corporate Managers in the areas of Accounting Planning Budgeting Reporting and Forecasting. This includes conducting detailed and complex analysis and research of financial information and other nonfinancial data to support those activities. You will guide and liaise with Media Partners and other Finances offices in order to gather information to support the results of their analysis. You will also conduct analysis to ensure adherence to accounting policies practices internal controls identify deviations and make recommendations for changes.
You will provide recommendations and guidance to Directors and Corporate Managers regarding important business decisions in relation with the Budgeting cycle as well as for RFP analysis.
This role is in Ottawa.
Tasks:
Collaborate with internal clients and other team members to implement activities assigned by senior manager for the coordination of budget to support Media Partners.
Conducts detailed and complex analysis of financial and nonfinancial data.
Followsup with Media Partners and Finance staff to obtain additional information and/or to clarify issues and figgures contained in submitted financial reports.
Provides specialized advice guidance and direction to all Finance offices in matters pertaining to above areas of activity.
Monitors adherence to policies procedures and guidelines identifies deviations and inconsistent applications and makes recommendations for updates and changes where required.
Monitors adherence to internal controls identifies and analyzes deviations and problems caused and makes recommendations for corrective action to ensure the integrity of data in the books of account.
Through ongoing reviews and analysis of accounts and financial data in the general ledger as well as contracts and agreements and other financial statements assists and contributes to the assurance that the official books of account of the Corporation are properly maintained.
Undertakes special topical research as necessary to compliment support and complete such statements.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
Professional accounting designation (or currently working towards) CPA CMA CGA CA.
Three to five years of experience in related field.
Fluently bilingual in French and English. Strong communication skills both written and oral.
Knowledge and experience in all areas of financial reporting and accounting IFRS financial legislation corporate policies and procedures and government funding issues sufficient to oversee complete or assist in complex indepth analysis of any area and to recommend changes to policies guidelines and procedures.
Proven experience with various software packages in delivering reports and projects including SAP IBM Planning Analytics (TM1 and Cognos Analytics.
Capacity to interpret and reorganize data and information of a complex nature for presentation to all levels of management in a clear and concise manner.
Experience with Google Suite specifically Google Sheets is an asset
Intermediate to advanced excel skills required
Ability and skills to make recommendations in writing and graphically illustrating regular and adhoc internal and external reports for senior management and the Board of Directors as required.
Good leadership qualities and be able to work with various levels of management and in situations either as a team leader or team member.
Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines involving complex analysis (with frequent interruptions).
