JOB TITLE: Recovery Mentor Grant County Jail Medicated Opioid Use Disorder Program

LOCATION: John Day

FLSA: .50 FTE NonExempt (Expectation to work 20 hours per week)

SUPERVISOR: Regional Peer Support Supervisor

PAY GRADE: B06 $20.38 $28.51 per hour depending on experience)

DESCRIPTION


The ability to discuss struggles and successes related to experiences shared by another individual promotes healing and compliments traditionally accepted professional services in the healthcare system. The role of the Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) is to work with individuals enrolled in MOUD/MAT who are struggling with issues related to mental health and/or addiction challenges. The CRM assigned to the Grant County Jail in John Day will be an accountability partner to help members plan evaluate and maintain their recovery journey by engaging in a positive supportive relationship. The CRM is also responsible for demonstrating and inspiring hope trust and a positive outlook and optimizing member connections with a broad range of communitybased services and natural supports.

This position is supervised by the Regional Peer Support Supervisor

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Work with members struggling with addictions and mental health challenges to provide support and referral services.
  • Provide intake services and case management for service contracts.
  • Maintain regular contact with assigned individuals as instructed.
  • If requested work with supervisory team to develop tracking sheet and metrics. Record and submit data and other reports in a timely fashion.
  • Develop relationships with community partners.
  • Act as a representative on behalf of MIP as needed with regards to community collaborations andevents as assigned by the Supervisor. This includes reporting back to the Supervisor with updates and for direction on how to proceed with involvement.
  • Maintain clear communication with staff. This includes keeping the Supervisor updated on weekly schedules and copied on all important communication.
  • Attend ongoing training programs offered to enhance effectiveness of role.
  • Maintain referral intake data collection and assure timely followup with referred individuals.
  • Have knowledge of or ability to develop an extensive network of Grant County community organizations resources and referral partners.
  • Schedule and facilitate support groups based on identified needs and encourage individuals in receiving training.
  • Documents and updates clients progress in progress notes.
  • Works with team members to discuss client progress and outlook
  • Contacts clients relatives to arrange family conferences if necessary.
  • Completes all paperwork in a way that is professional clinically sound and timely as prescribed by theOARs and other pertinent guidelines.
  • Respond to all phone calls and emails within 1 business day.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS


To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.


Education and Experience:

No minimum education or experience required.

Must identify as a person with lived experience with substance use.

Individual must be able to pass a criminal history background check.


Certifications:

Individual will become a Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) within 6 months of hire date.


Other Skills and Abilities

  • Must possess or have the ability to acquire knowledge of symptoms and challenges faced by people with mental illness and addictions. Must have or possess the ability to acquire knowledge about relevant OARs.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing and have the ability to work independently and complete all responsibilities in a thorough and timely fashion.
  • Must have skills to professionally work with the public and the ability to coordinate services across various agencies and community groups.
  • Must be able to develop cooperative and respectful relationships with clients and their families.
  • Must have knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge about the recovery model.
  • Must possess the ability to represent the interest of the customer and the agency in a favorable light in the community.
  • Must have the ability to work well with teams and other groups of individuals.
  • The position requires the handling of highly confidential information. Must adhere to rules and laws pertaining to client confidentiality.
  • Must posses or have the ability to possess functional knowledge of business English and medical terminology.
  • Must have good spelling and basic mathematical skills.
  • Must have the ability to learn assigned tasks readily and to adhere to general office procedures.
  • Good organizational and time management skills are essential.
  • Must have in depth knowledge of standard office equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and oral formats. Must have the ability to present and exchange information internally across teams and coworkers and externally with customers and the public.
  • Must hold a valid drivers license and be insurable or carry insurance for client service purposes and fortravel between business offices the community and to attend required meetings and/or trainings. Must pass all criminal history check requirements as required by ORS 181.536181.537 and in accordance with OARthrough.

PHYISCAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger handle smell or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in an office as well as in the community. The noise level in the office environment is usually moderate but occasionally one may be exposed to loud noises. The noise in the community including the homes of customers is often difficult to predict. Occasional out of area travel and overnight stays will be required for attendance at meetings and/trainings.

Handicap access may not be available at all places where this position must go. There are some situations where this position may be required to respond to environments where a client is in crisis. The environments in these situations are difficult to predict and may be in uneven terrain.

This position exposes the employee to the everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as an office or home environment.
