Job Description:
Provide therapeutic after school care for the children enrolled at Talitha Koum as part of a Mobius Care plan in which as many hours of a childs life as possible are filled with nurturing care in an environment where the child feels safe.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Respond to children by holding smiling and speaking in a positive tone of voice.
Use training provided in High/Scope interactions strategies for guiding childrens behavior. Assist children in developing selfhelp skills.
Plan daily activities that support the childinitiated activities and explorations.
Supervise and assist children with daily cleanup.
Supervise children during toileting or changing diapers.
Set up and put away materials and equipment used for after school activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Demonstrate an ability to learn and implement TKIs therapeutic approach. 2. Be reliable and conscientious in carrying out assigned duties.
3. Demonstrate a patient and loving attitude toward young children.
4. Be flexible in working with different age groups.
5. Meet the requirements of law pertaining to convictions of felonies or misdemeanors.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be skilled at coping with the daytoday stress of working with children who have challenging behaviors and require a substantial amount of supervision and nurturing care.
Must be skilled at understanding setting and maintaining appropriate emotional boundaries with children and their families.
Must be able to remain nonjudgmental about families and their situations.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Must be able to cope with the extensive physical demands of maintaining the environment physically working with children out of control and getting up and down off of the floor.
