Job Description

Job Title: Montessori Teacher (Ages 1 3)

Location: Kampala Uganda


Job Purpose:


To provide a safe nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged 1 3 years using Montessori and play-based approaches to promote their early development. The Playgroup Teacher will plan and implement lessons oversee support staff and maintain strong communication with parents and the school team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and care for children aged 1 3 years ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.

  • Teach children through structured and spontaneous play fostering emotional cognitive and social development.

  • Plan and implement daily weekly and monthly lesson plans aligned with Montessori and play-based learning principles.

  • Ensure the classroom environment is welcoming safe and age-appropriate with daily classroom setup.

  • Monitor and guide support staff (nannies assistants) to ensure quality care and learning.

  • Write detailed monthly progress reports for each child.

  • Provide timely feedback to parents about their child s development and milestones.

  • Participate in all school training sessions and professional development programs.

  • Uphold high standards of hygiene safety and safeguarding practices.



Requirements


Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or Certificate in Early Childhood Development (ECD) or equivalent.

  • At least 1 2 years working with toddlers or preschool-aged children.

  • Safeguarding and child protection (preferred negotiable)

  • First aid certification (preferred negotiable)


Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Creative playful and passionate about early childhood education

  • Strong understanding of Montessori and play-based learning methods

  • Excellent classroom management and child engagement skills

  • Punctual reliable and dedicated to children s development

  • Strong communication skills with children parents and staff

  • Able to work in a team and lead by example
