EduTalent Group are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a forward-thinking special school in West Sussex for a passionate and committed Science Teacher to lead and deliver a broad balanced and engaging science curriculum across Key Stages 2 4.
As the Science Teacher you will lead the subject across the school delivering high-quality and inspiring science lessons that meet the needs of all learners including those with special educational needs (SEND). You will be responsible for planning implementing and evaluating a science curriculum that supports academic progress and nurtures curiosity and enthusiasm for the subject.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver a rich and inclusive science curriculum across Key Stages 2 3 and 4.
Support pupils to achieve their optimum level across all science disciplines including GCSE and BTEC qualifications.
Develop differentiated schemes of work to meet the needs of individual learners.
Use assessment data effectively to set targets track progress and inform planning.
Provide a safe nurturing and structured classroom environment tailored to pupils with SEND.
Provide high-quality feedback to pupils to ensure rapid and sustained progress.
Set individual learning targets and monitor pupil outcomes against them.
Manage the science department s budget resources and equipment.
Maintain high standards of behaviour and promote a positive learning ethos.
Liaise regularly with parents/carers to report on progress and well-being.
Support enrichment and extra-curricular activities including off-site learning.
Promote the school s values and contribute to a caring respectful and inclusive community.
Ensure science learning spaces are stimulating well-maintained and reflective of pupils achievements.
Implement the schools Health & Safety policies including risk assessments where appropriate.
Participate in INSET days and ongoing CPD to further your professional development.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching science to pupils aged 7 19
Strong subject knowledge and passion for science education
Understanding of the National Curriculum and SEN Code of Practice
Ability to support students with SEND in a nurturing and structured environment
Excellent classroom management and differentiation skills
Effective use of ICT for teaching and assessment
Strong communication and organisational skills
Team-oriented approach with a commitment to safeguarding
Desirable:
Relevant SEND qualifications (e.g. trauma-informed practice autism awareness)
Experience teaching in a special school setting
Experience organising and delivering extra-curricular activities
Knowledge of specific SEND categories: SEMH Cognition & Learning Communication & Interaction
