Job Description

Job Title: Sr. Specialist Production and Sustaining Quality Engineer

Job Code: 19139

Job Description:

The Production and Sustaining Quality Engineer supports the Operations and Quality teams to ensure that quality objectives are met while striving for ontime delivery and cost management. This position is integrated into the manufacturing and test operations to collaborate in a crossfunctional environment to address issues and prevent recurrences of issues.

Essential Functions:

  • Identifies opportunities and leads Zero Defect projects to reduce Cost of Poor Quality
  • Collaborates with inspection and manufacturing to evaluate specific product conditions for compliance where determination of requirements is difficult or unclear
  • Leads continuous improvement efforts and participates in improvement projects lead by others using trend analysis and RCCA tools
  • Develops and maintains control plans within areas of responsibility
  • Validates first article inspection and documentation within areas of responsibility
  • Provides internal communication regarding acceptance testing issues. Interfaces with test manufacturing engineering and customers as needed
  • Mentors engineers within the Quality organization
  • Completes risk assessments and validation plans for planned changes
  • Supports offshift and weekend coverage as needed
  • Be able to move 30 lbs
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • 4 years using quality tools including RCCA control charts control plans and PFMEAs
  • 4 years experience using AS9100/ISO 9001 quality systems
  • 4 years experience with AS9145 PPAP/APQP requirements
  • Experience in commodities such as circuit card assemblies cable harnesses metal fabrication or system integration
  • 6 years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Six sigma green belt certification
  • Strong computer skills including proficient use of MS Office Suite
  • Good communication skills and the ability to interface across the organization to achieve effective results
  • Experience working in a team environment to solve problems and balance workloads
