- Based in Centennial Park with the flexibility to work across other Sydney sites as needed
- Salary relative to experience and ranges from $ 81390 to $90001 super
Lead a team to maintain and enhance iconic green spaces balancing expert horticulture with public use.
The role
Centennial Park is a dynamic and highuse public space and as Senior Horticulturist youll lead a team to ensure its landscapes remain beautiful functional and wellmaintained. From managing horticultural programs and supervising contractors to providing expert advice across the Greater Sydney Parklands estates youll play a handson role in shaping these iconic green spaces. Youll also work closely with event organisers and other stakeholders to balance public use with the ongoing care of the gardens ensuring high horticultural standards are met.
This role is about leadership as much as horticulturementoring staff prioritising competing demands and making strategic decisions to get the best outcomes with available resources. Youll also maintain plant records oversee repairs after events and contribute to financial planning all while working across multiple sites to provide expert guidance on horticultural best practices.

What you will bring to the role
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining and using a wide range of horticultural plant and equipment
- Selfmotivated with a proactive approach to work
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and support a team
- Ability to provide expert horticultural advice across a variety of landscapes
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with colleagues and stakeholders
- Strong planning prioritisation and project management abilities
- Commitment to personal and team development
What is an essential requirement:
- Horticultural trades certificate or equivalent experience and technical knowledge in horticulture and maintenance techniques
- Ability to travel to and attend work at any site within the GSP portfolio as directed
- Current Drivers Licence
- Ability to undertake fieldwork for extended periods (outside of normal working hours and on weekends if required)
- Have the ability to lift and carry a minimum 15 kilos.
