Salary Information
Compensation plans are based on a multistep progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

Nature of Work
The fundamental reason the position exists is to supportCounty serverbased applications network systems and equipment bytroubleshooting and maintaining IT systems. IT Engineers are considered fullyfunctioning in their respective area of IT (Systems and Networks). They areable to perform most routine work independently while seeking assistance fromSpecialists on difficult or highly complicated projects or problem situations.IT Engineers provide support to entrylevel IT staff members. IT Engineerssupport various ITrelated work including applications systems personalcomputers (PCs) local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (networks)in the Department of Information Technology supporting all technology systemsof the Montgomery County functional areas and departments. Employees in thisposition follow the policies and procedures of the Information Technology (IT)Department without close supervision except on highly technicalsituations. This position reports to an IT Specialist.
Minimum Qualifications
Network/Infrastructure: Must have an Associates Degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited college or university and three 3 years of progressively responsible experience in personal computers maintenance wide area networks analysis and maintenance and customer training/assistance.Qualified experience may substitute for the required education.
Systems:Must have an Associate Degree in Computer Science (orrelated field) and 3yrs experience in the following:Programming Languages and Frameworks: Visual Basic(VB) or C# ASP MVC; Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) version10; Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or higher to include experience in SQL ServerReporting Services (SSRS) and Business Analytic tools such as PowerBI or SQLAnalysis Services (SSAS); Microsoft Office 365; Microsoft Visual Studio 2019 orhigher; Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows Server 2016 or higher MicrosoftWindows Desktop 10 and/or 11
NOTE: Professional certifications in the areas of software networking and/or telecommunications are preferred.
NOTE: Qualifying education training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Special Requirements
This is not a remote role. Must be willing to report to work on site during shifts.Must be willing to work at night or during weekends as required. Must be able to connect to the network from home either through VPN or dial up to provide emergency recovery using departmentsupplied IT equipment or reports to work during nonbusiness hours as appropriate. When oncall must be able to respond to incidents. Must have a valid motor vehicle operators license to operate a motor vehicle. Employees are strongly encouraged to achieve certification within two years.
