About the Role
This role reports directly to the Medical Education Coordinator however will collaborate with:
Manager Early Career Programs
Director of PreVocational Training
Supervisor of Intern Training
Medical Workforce Unit
Chief Medical Officer
Other stakeholders
The key responsibilities of this position will be to develop implement and evaluate educational programs for PreVocational Doctors Year 1 (Interns) at St Vincents Hospital Melbourne as guided by the Post Graduate Medical Council Victoria (PMCV) requirements for Internship in Victoria and the National Framework for PreVocational Medical Training (NFPMT).
It is expected that the Medical Education Officer along with other members of the Medical Education Team will communicate frequently with Senior Medical Staff and other stakeholders at SVHM with relation to the supervision and education of these PreVocational medical staff. The Medical Education Officer role also includes the provision of ongoing pastoral care and support of a noneducational nature for Junior Medical Staff at SVHM. This will be conducted in collaboration with other team members and key stakeholders/services across the organisation and state as required.
All members of the Medical Education Team including the Medical Education Officer will be responsible for supporting and promoting educational and clinical training opportunities for PreVocational doctors that are aligned with national and state accreditation standards and the NFPMT.
Classification for this position will be RN35 $119329 per annum pro rata)
Your contribution
Hold a current Bachelor qualification in a relevant field (eg. education health sciences nursing).
Current Nursing Registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA.
Postgraduate qualifications in Health Professional Education (eg. nursing health professional education).
Highly developed organisational skills interpersonal and communication skills computer literacy skills and problem solving skills.
Welldeveloped understanding of health system and relevant legislation.
Proven ability to direct enthuse motivate support and encourage a multidisciplinary team.
Previous experience in planning facilitating and evaluating education programs including the development of new courses
Previous experience in medical education or health professional teaching (desirable).
Experience in project work or project management (desirable).
