Movable Bridge Design

The Movable Bridge Unit in Mechanicsburg PA and Philadelphia PA offices are looking for Bridge Design Engineers with interest and experience in Movable Bridge Design.

Movable Bridge Unit:

Focuses on the structural mechanical and electrical design of movable bridges of all types. Projects include new design of movable structures structural mechanical and electrical inspection and rehabilitation of existing bridges. Our instrumentation group is housed in this unit and focuses on short term monitoring of bridges and other structures using a wide variety of gauges and instrumentation. Structural Electrical and Mechanical Engineers as well as CADD Technicians make up the staff of this unit.

As a Structural Bridge Design Engineer with Modjeski and Masters you will work on a variety of challenging and rewarding bridge engineering projects for a myriad of transportation clients. Positions and Location Availability:

  • Entry Level 04 years related Bridge Design Experience)
    • Mechanicsburg PA
    • Philadelphia PA
  • MidLevel 410 years related Bridge Design Experience)
    • Mechanicsburg PA
    • Philadelphia PA

Ideal Candidates will have:

  • At minimum a BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited College or University
  • MS in Civil Engineering is Preferred
    • Transcripts may be requested
      • Ideal Candidate will have coursework in Bridge Design Structural Steel Design Reinforced Concrete Design Finite Element Modeling
  • For Entry Level Positions
    • Ideal candidates will have a valid EI certification or in the process of obtaining.
  • For MidLevel Positions
    • Ideal Candidates will be within 6 months of obtaining a valid PE license

General Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of structural analysis design techniques tools and principles.
  • Basic knowledge of computer assisted drafting and design.
  • Ability to use standard engineering analysis software.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers project managers supervisor and other team members and
  • Ability to effectively receive and convey ideas and information orally and in writing with coworkers project managers supervisor and other team members.
  • Review and check standard structural design calculations.
  • Perform limited structural analysis and design of standard bridge components using general analysis software clientspecific software and inhouse programs under direct guidance from project managers and seniorlevel engineers.
  • Develop preliminary details using CAD software and provide information to CAD technicians for development of contract plans directly related to design work.
  • Prepare projectrelated documents and internal correspondence.
  • Perform and check quantity takeoffs from contract plans.
  • Review and check basic structural and shop drawings.
  • Provide information for design reports.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned including field and construction services assignments.
