6week paid training program for aluminum welding at Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro before beginning on the job training
Shift Overview:
Monday Thursday four 10hour days 4:30pm3:00am
Job Summary:
The positions within Welder I are responsible for interpreting blueprints job cards bill of materials and routing sheets. The Welder must be able to handle complex blueprints involving several variables which vary by customized orders. The Welder must be able to work within precise limits and have experience in bench MIG and/or TIG welding (aluminum).
Your Impact:
These duties are not meant to be allinclusive and other duties may be assigned.
Set up and assemble various components for welding
Weld out of position
Set up machine for welding
Weld aluminum components (bench MIG TIG)
Drill and grind welds
Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures rules and regulations
Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills
Regular attendance required
Communicate verbally with coworkers to keep a safe working environment
Follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks
Apply measurements to parts and equipment
Use and operate hand and power tools
Lift light and/or heavy parts on and off a cart floor shelf etc.
Operate a crane/hoist for heavy lifting
Assist coworkers with heavy lifting of parts
Understand the differences in parts and tools
All other duties and responsibilities that are assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
6 months or more of relevant experience OR High School Diploma or equivalent education.
Previous welding experience.
Proficient in MIG welding as demonstrated by an onsite weld skills test
Standout Qualifications:
Welding/Metal Fabrication certificate technical diploma or associate degree in related field
Previous experience constructing large weldments
Blueprint reading skills

Maintain balance when walking and standing on potential slippery work floor while welding
Maintain balance when climbing on a portable step
Perform welding/assembling tasks while in awkward positions
Individually lift and manipulate parts/equipment weighing up to 80 pounds
Use both hands for tool operation carrying of parts and assisting coworkers with heavy lifting of parts
Operate and access heavy equipment safely and effectively
Remember task sequence and safety constraints
