Job Description
As a working supervisor provide work direction and supervision to the maintenance team. Ensure the effective delivery of maintenance services in accordance with the company policies OSHA regulations and applicable laws. Oversee the maintenance and mechanical activities to ensure equipment operates effectively and efficiently. Perform general and preventative maintenance overhauls modifications fabrication welding and mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs as needed. Demonstrate expertise in all maintenance functions and provide performance development opportunities to team members on an ongoing basis.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Prioritize and assign the daily jobs and work orders assignment detailing any requirements for the day and participating to successfully accomplish the daily tasks
- Ensure maintenance staff has a good understanding of work practices and procedures; train and develop maintenance staff
- Support the maintenance manager to ensure that all preventative maintenance work orders are completed within the given time.
- Assist with everyday maintenance issues and repairs including planned unplanned and emergency assignments on production processing and packaging equipment as well as utility-related systems while adhering to all safety procedures
- Participate in the installation of new equipment
- Train operators to troubleshoot complex issues and minimize equipment downtime
- Communicate with other departments management and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production
- Ensure all repairs are documented. Complete all paperwork clearly legibly and accurately with required information. Document all required information in accordance with standard operations procedures
- Stay up to date on new products equipment technology and techniques
- Provide staff with the necessary training on existing and new equipment
- Utilizing continuous improvement mindset identify opportunities to improve processes
- Ensure safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
- Complete supervisory activities such as administering employee promotions and transfers; reviewing and editing employee timekeeping; completing performance evaluations; mentoring training and coaching employees
- Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory food safety quality and sanitation requirements
- The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee but is not a complete list of responsibilities duties and skills required. Other duties may be assigned as required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from trade school or technical school preferred in areas such as electrical programmable controls (PLC/HMI) mechanical welding/fabrication refrigeration plumbing etc.
- 5 years of maintenance mechanical electrical hydraulic pneumatic electronic computer-controlled equipment PLC and HVAC or related experience with demonstrated leadership attributes or team lead experience
- Experience on a variety of equipment including lubricating cleaning material handling motor control relay control process control and packaging equipment
- Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems preferred
- Certification and/or License may be required during course of employment
- Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems
- Strong knowledge of facility equipment
- Able to demonstrate initiative and follow through on day-to-day responsibilities
- Able to adapt to changing operational needs and lead others through change
- Able to select coach develop engage and retain a team of employees
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
- Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork
- Able to lead and instruct others on the proper and safe procedures
- Able to inspect equipment recognize potential problems and take appropriate corrective action to prevent component failures or equipment down time
- Able to use a variety of maintenance tools hand and power tools electric meters and material handling equipment in a safe manner
- Able to perform complicated maintenance activities/repairs independently
- Able to present options and ideas to current processes or procedures
- Able to adapt and manage to change effectively
- Must be able to read write and speak English
