Salary:$5000 $6000 per 5 credit class

This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future vacancies. Individuals will be contacted as vacancies occur.
Olympic College is continuously recruiting adjunct faculty to teach courses in Japanese. Candidates must be available to teach in person on the Bremerton and Poulsbo campuses.Olympic College seeks applicantswhoare dedicated to studentcenteredlearningclosing achievementgaps supporting diversity and social justice learning opportunitiesand who employ datainformed decisionmaking in their instruction.

Parttime positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarterbyquarter basis. Individuals who apply to the applicant pool are considered active for 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. A comprehensive community college we offer instruction in Basic Studies to include awarding a high school diploma GED preparation and English to Speakers of Other Languages; academic transfer and workforce education degrees and certificates; four applied baccalaureate degrees and community education in our twocounty region.

Essential Functions

  • Teach evening distance and inperson classes primarily on the Bremerton and Poulsbo campuses and at the Shelton campus when requested.
  • Teach collegelevel courses in accordance with the college catalog schedule of classes course outlines course syllabi and any departmental guidelines.
  • Provide quality teaching including related preparation and grading
  • Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office as requested.
  • Maintain accurate records of students and complete forms as required.
  • May include evening instruction and/or instruction at satellite campuses.
  • Punctual communication with students faculty and staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications


  • MastersdegreeinJapanese language or literature fromanaccreditedCollegeorUniversity
  • Previousteachingexperience.
  • Near nativefluency
  • Instructors should have the ability to teach Japanese I II and III.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.


Desirable Qualifications


  • Collegelevelteachingexperience.
  • Experience with Canvas Learning Management System.

Terms of Employment

Faculty members must submit official unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.


This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary listed is a range based on per quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses and offcampus assignments including travel to clinical sites may be a part of the instructional load.

Adjuncts are not eligible for benefits upon theirinitialhireAdjunct faculty must work 50 percent of a fulltime load for two consecutive quarters to become eligible.Additionalhours earned at other SBCTC colleges may count towards this requirement.
