Brookings Institution Metropolitan Policy Program

Fall 2012 Internship Program

General Information

The Metropolitan Policy Program (Metro) is offering fall internships for qualified candidates. Fall interns typically work 2040 hours a week depending on the Programs needs and the interns availability. Interns provide research and administrative support for Metros current projects and daytoday office functions.

Undergraduate students (especially upperclassmen) graduate students and recent college graduates majoring in public policy urban policy economics statistics/mathematics or other social sciences or related fields are encouraged to apply. Our most successful applicants balance highlevel quantitative research proficiency with strong writing skills as demonstrated through previous research experience.

Experience with Excel ArcGIS SAS STATA and/or Access are strongly valued but not required.

Metro also offers a communications internship for an individual interested in communications public relations or journalism and how these fields relate to advancing the Metro Programs impact. Duties typically include: pitching stories; outreach events such as press conferences forums and policy roundtables; maintaining press contacts/lists; and compiling clip reports.

Please note that all positions are unpaid. The fall internships period runs from September through December.
