Job Summary:
The Kitchen Assistant plays a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of the kitchen by supporting chefs and kitchen staff in food preparation cleaning and organization. This position ensures that hygiene and safety standards are upheld and that the kitchen remains clean efficient and ready for service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Assist with basic food prep such as washing peeling and chopping vegetables measuring ingredients and preparing simple dishes under supervision.
- Cleaning & Sanitization: Clean kitchen equipment utensils work surfaces and dining areas ensuring all areas meet food safety standards.
- Stock Management: Help with receiving unpacking and storing kitchen supplies checking for freshness and proper labeling.
- Dishwashing: Wash dishes pots pans and cutlery either by hand or using industrial dishwashers.
- Waste Management: Dispose of kitchen waste responsibly following recycling and waste reduction policies.
- Support Kitchen Operations: Work alongside chefs to support meal preparation during busy periods and assist in plating dishes as needed.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all health and safety regulations report hazards and adhere to kitchen protocols.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a kitchen or food service environment (preferred but not always required).
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices (e.g. HACCP certification is a plus).
- Ability to work in a fastpaced highpressure environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects when needed
