Job Description
Civil engineers plan design and manage construction projects for roads bridges buildings and other major structures. They use computer models surveys tests and maps to create blueprints that guide contractors. Civil engineers also work to maintain infrastructure and protect the environment.
Responsibilities
Design: Create plans for projects including bridges buildings and transportation links
Construction: Manage construction projects to ensure they are built on time and according to specifications
Safety: Ensure the safety of temporary structures and the sturdiness of foundations
Maintenance: Maintain infrastructure such as roads bridges and sewage systems
Environmental protection: Minimize the environmental impact of projects
