About the position

The Climate Action Lever is currently seeking a professional in the field of climate peace and security. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the Climate Security team in research and work in Latin America & Caribbean region including bilateral and CGIAR Climate Resilience Fragility Conflict and Migration (FCM) and AgriLAC Resiliente initiatives.

The position will be based in the operations center of the Americas located in the Campus of Palmira Colombia.

Responsibilities


  • Collaborate in a bilateral project on irregular migration climate change and gender in Guatemala including supporting the coding of fieldwork data the write up of the report the validation process and the communication strategy.
  • Guide and direct the logistical organization methodological planning and implementation of FCM fieldwork in Guatemala and Honduras focused on migration security and climate change.
  • Support fundraising and proposal development for new projects in Latin America.
  • Execute highlevel literature searches reviews and analysis of climate security causal pathways.
  • Contribute to the development of Policy Coherence Analyses (PCAs) focused on Latin America.
  • Perform highstandard translations of global knowledge products from English to Spanish and Spanish to English.
  • Develop and produce official blog articles and policies briefs summarizing key papers reports and events of the climate security team in Latin America.
  • Provide support in the planning and development of forums conferences webinars and similar events supported by the climate security team in Latin America including side events for COP 29 and COP 16 as well as capacitybuilding courses and forums related to climate change and human mobility in Guatemala and Honduras.
  • Conduct deskbased research to inform the discussions around the positioning of the climate security team for COP 16 in Cali.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in international relations history sociology or related fields.
  • Master s degree or PhD in international relations peace and conflict studies migration development or other related social sciences.
  • Excellent knowledge of the literature on the nexus between climate change peace migration displacement and security.
  • Practical experience in international organizations with a focus on applied research and/or development.
  • Proven experience in international and multicultural environments and in interacting with researchers policymakers donors and civil society in a wide range of contexts.
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience in the same or similar roles.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze data evidence and texts and to communicate results.
  • Qualitative research skills and management (QCA discourse/content analysis fieldwork and primary data collection).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient Spanish level (oral and written).
  • Advanced English level (oral and written).

This is a national recruited position placed at a BG08 on a scale of 14 levels with level 14 being the highest.

This is a Colombian national search and will be managed through a fixedterm contract of a one (1) year period subject to a probation period according to the local legislation and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.
