Job Title: SiteBased Mechanical Engineer (Plumbing Bias) Facilities Management

Position Overview: We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced SiteBased Mechanical Engineer with a focus on plumbing to join our Facilities Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all mechanical systems with a particular emphasis on plumbing maintenance and repair. A full clean drivers license is required for this role as travel between sites will be necessary. While the role emphasizes plumbing familiarity with all mechanical systems including HVAC ventilation and general building systems is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plumbing Maintenance and Repair:
    • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of plumbing systems including pipes fixtures pumps and water heaters to ensure efficient operation and prevent issues.
    • Diagnose plumbing problems such as leaks clogs or malfunctions and implement appropriate repairs or replacements in a timely manner.
    • Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as flushing water heaters cleaning drains and testing water pressure to extend the lifespan of plumbing equipment.
  2. General Mechanical Systems Oversight:
    • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all mechanical systems within the facility including HVAC ventilation and other building systems to provide support and assistance as needed.
    • Collaborate with technicians and contractors to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and coordinate repairs or upgrades to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
    • Monitor the performance of mechanical systems through regular inspections data analysis and equipment testing identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  3. Health and Safety Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards in all plumbing and mechanical maintenance activities.
    • Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate safety measures to mitigate potential hazards associated with plumbing and mechanical systems.
    • Promote a culture of safety awareness and adherence to safety protocols among maintenance staff and contractors.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities equipment inventory and performance metrics related to plumbing and mechanical systems.
    • Prepare detailed reports on maintenance activities including work completed issues encountered and recommendations for improvements.
    • Collaborate with the facility management team to develop budgets forecasts and expenditure reports related to plumbing and mechanical maintenance operations.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in mechanical engineering plumbing or a related field.
  • Experience in a similar role with a focus on plumbing maintenance and repair in a facilities management or similar environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of plumbing systems including piping materials fixtures pumps and water treatment processes.
  • Familiarity with other mechanical systems including HVAC ventilation and general building systems is essential.
  • Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Full clean drivers license with the ability to travel between sites as required.
