The Senior Design Manager successfully manages the design process of a project in line with programme requirements from concept through to detailed design BOQ IFCs and project execution ensuring full compliance with Contract specifications whilst minimizing cost and maximizing value engineering opportunities.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversees a range of schemes from conception and value management through feasibility study and detailed design whilst ensuring that time and budgetary allocations are managed.
- Manages all aspects of multiple related projects to ensure the overall program is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives.
- Delivers the programme to the client within the timescale and contribute to compliance with the Quality Management System.
- Manage the construction/design deliverables in accordance with construction requirements and Clients expectations.
- Ensure to obtain the project brief (client requirements purpose of project) on time and obtain information about the value of the project.
- Ensure to manage the feasibility study of the project to ensure the project purpose & Benefit.
- Ensure to develop the design concept on time (through in house team or Consultants) based on the Project brief and project value.
- Ensure to review the design concepts and drawings for the Project and provide feedback design suggestions and alternatives to assist in meeting UCC goals for the Project.
- Ensure to obtain UCC senior management and client required approvals on time.

- Ensure to manage the production of the time schedule prepared by the planning engineer.
- Ensure to timely manage the process of RFP review and award for the technical and commercial offers of consultancy service and appointing of consultants.
- Ensure to obtain the schematic design from the appointed consultant & Issued for construction DWGs on time from the AOR.
- To obtain DC documents on time as per the time schedule and to obtain the detailed design from Consultant / AOR on time.
- Ensure too establish the communication line with client project management lead consultant ID consultant specialty consultants main contractor commercial & estimation supervising consultant and ensure it is strictly followed during the design development.
- Ensure to review the design deliverables for each design stage with design team and ensure the quality of Design.
- Ensure to ensure value engineering is being done for the design.
- Ensure to distribute the design documents to the stakeholders through DC.
- Ensure to Manage the consultant to obtain all authorities approvals on time (Civil defense Kahrama Building Permit MOE QTA)and resolve constraints if any.
Skills
- Job Knowledge & Skills
- Experienced in CAD Document Control and Planning Systems.
- Thorough knowledge of the design and construction methodologies.
- Knowledge of Project Management.
- Member of a Professional Association such as RIBA AIA or etc.
- ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.

Education
Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture
Full Time
