Position Description: Provide care to adolescents and young adults age 1622 year with visual impairment or blindness during the day hours (7am11pm) in an residential summer program. Some participants have additional medical needs/concerns that may include but are not limited to allergies ADHD asthma autism CP developmental delays diabetes posttransplant seizure and use of assisted mobility devices such as crutches wheelchairs or walkers. Daily routine can include: medication administration injury assessment and care providing emergency management of ongoing medical concerns assisting with activities of daily living (dressing and showering) communicating concerns with parents and working to develop solutions assisting with meals participating in group activities and community outings such as job sampling attending class visiting local stores/mall going out to eat outdoor concerts/festivals and documentation of care provided. More than one nurse is on at any given time. EMTs will provide overnight observation and emergency assistance until the next day s nurses arrive.
Skills Required: School nurse/pediatric experience preferred. Experience working with schoolaged students with disabilities preferred Experience working with individuals with vision loss preferred

Experience Required: Current Unencumbered NJ Nursing License required
Experience Preferred:
Education Required: Registered Nurse (RN). Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will be considered. School nurse and/or pediatric experience preferred. Current unencumbered NJ license. Current CPR certification

Additional Information: Well qualified LPNs will also be considered and are encouraged to apply Two shifts available daily: 7:00am 3:30pm and 3:00pm 11:30pm Applicants must be willing/able to commit to a minimum of 3 shifts
