We are seeking a 3D Technical Artist with a passion for creating highquality avatar content for avatar rendering prototype experiences. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of AR/VR pioneers and contribute to the development of cuttingedge rendering technology.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in 3D art and technical art with a focus on character shading and geometry. Relevant skills include creating and improving materials for hair skin and eyes importing assets from Blender into the O3DE realtime engine for testing creating setups for groundtruth comparisons and helping create and improve prototype demo experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Material Quality Improvement: Enhance the quality of hair skin and eye materials on existing character assets.
- Hair Asset Addition: Incorporate diverse hair assets into our demo environment for testing and prototyping.
- Hair Rendering Prototyping: Develop prototypes of hair rendering techniques such as converting hair strands to hair cards.
- Eye and Eyelash Geometry Development: Create anatomically detailed eye and eyelash geometry assets including textures.
- Avatar Animation Import: Import Avatar animations into our realtime development environment O3DE.
- Rendering Comparison Setup: Establish rendering comparisons between realtime and offline avatar rendering setups.
- Demo Visual Enhancement: Improve the visual appeal of avatar rendering demos.
- Animation Sequence Creation/Enhancement: Create or enhance animation sequences.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3 years of professional experience working in a character content production environment.
- Proficiency with Blender.
- Proficiency in a scripting language like Python or C#.
- Experience importing and setting up assets in O3DE or comparable like Unity or Unreal.
- Knowledge of rendering performance optimization techniques.
- Professional experience communicating verbally and writing in a multidisciplinary team including engineers scientists and technical artists.
- Experience in creating and improving materials for hair skin and eyes.
- Experience in importing assets from Blender into runtime engines for testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in O3DE realtime engine.
- Houdini Maya Substance Painter experience.
- LUA coding experience.

Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in OrangePeople monthly team meetings and participate in teambuilding efforts.
- Contribute to OrangePeople technical discussions peer reviews etc.
- Contribute content and collaborate via the OPWiki/Knowledge Base.
- Provide status reports to OP Account Management as requested.
