About the job
PenguinIN indoor positioning technology applies advanced machine learning to establish location of indoor objects, people and smartphones with up to one meter accuracy. This location data is used by PenTrack (asset tracking and location) and PenNav (indoor wayfinding) to enable value-centric use cases.
Responsibilities:
As a Backend Developer, you will take part in developing and maintaining some of our algorithms and backend system. The systems that you develop will take advantage of Kotlin multi-platform capabilities as the work you contribute to will be leveraged in native mobile environments as well as in web services. Your responsibilities will include:
- Writing well-structured and maintainable code, following best practices and coding standards.
- Creating and maintaining RESTful APIs and interfacing with various backend services and databases.
- Implementing unit tests to ensure the quality and reliability of code.
- Apply troubleshooting experience to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Kotlin, with some exposure to other languages such as C# or Python
- Experience with database systems, including static data and real-time interactions.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of professional software development experience
- Experience with JVM-based languages, primarily Kotlin
- Proficiency with other languages such as C# is a plus
- Understanding of software architecture principles and design patterns.
- Experience with version control systems (Git), continuous integration, and deployment pipelines.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools.
- Experience with mobile development is highly desirable
