Job Description

As a Housing Options Officer, you will play a crucial role in fulfilling WNC's statutory obligations related to homelessness and housing under various housing acts. Your primary responsibilities include assessing homeless applications, providing advice, and managing housing cases.

Tasks

  1. Assess homeless applications, manage a caseload, and carry out investigations into homelessness under relevant housing acts.
  2. Prevent and relieve homelessness by offering advice and assistance to clients to resolve their housing needs.
  3. Respond to inquiries, conduct interviews, and maintain accurate records to ensure timely information availability.
  4. Process housing register applications, assess eligibility, and facilitate property allocations in line with community considerations.
  5. Organize and administer temporary accommodation placements and address issues such as license arrears and antisocial behavior.
  6. Stay updated on changes to housing-related legislation and policies, working independently within the framework of policies and regulations.
  7. Assist in implementing new legislation and support initiatives within the organization and relevant agencies.
  8. Ensure efficient and secure information management through the use of Office 365 and internal IT systems.
  9. Challenge and eliminate discriminatory practices or behaviors, promoting equal opportunities.
  10. Demonstrate an understanding of various needs, ensuring health, safety, and welfare at all times.
