We are seeking a Engineering Specialist with the following skills, knowledge and abilities:

Possess aptitude for engineering and design of electrical power and control system.Includes selection, sizing and layout of electrical systems and components found in mission critical applications such as power plants (nuclear, fossil, hydro) and industrial facilities

Possess good verbal and written communication skills.

Possess good interpersonal skills to build relationships and work effectively in a team environment.

Possess willingness to accept responsibility.

Possess willingness to develop, promote and comply with Mesa safety requirements.

Possess working knowledge of computers and software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office Suite.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment with occasional overnight field trips to plant sites which require the ability to walk and climb stairs or ladders in a plant or industrial environment.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • A four-year bachelors degree in engineering technology preferred
  • Documented minimum 8 years equivalent work experience as a Senior Technician



Responsibilities:
  • Works under direction of Lead Engineers, Senior Engineers, and Design Specialists.
  • Prepares and assists higher-level designers in the preparation of engineering and construction drawings (layouts, assemblies, schematics, and details) from rough sketches, verbal instructions, or from general engineering and design information utilizing computer aided design technology.
  • Accountable for the quality of design documents they prepare, and that the documents have been prepared in accordance with applicable Mesa or client procedures which define the requirements for document/deliverable generation.
  • Developing an understanding of drawing types required for a project, their purpose, and inter-relationship with other sets of deliverables.
  • Communicate with Project Team about concepts, data, and specific needs associated with the completion of design deliverables.
  • Manages personal task assignments and adheres to project scope of work, schedule and budget on all assigned tasks.
  • Understand the basic design requirements, and technical/commercial constraints on projects. Works with Project Team to evaluate, select, size and apply design techniques, procedures, and criteria to assigned engineering/technical tasks for electrical power systems and control systems up to 15 kV.
  • Assists in equipment or material selection or specification based on environmental or performance requirements.
  • Performs material takeoffs from completed drawings and schedules to determine quantities and equipment specifications.
  • Reference information from vendor prints, catalogs, technical manuals, and client standards and interface with engineering as required.
  • Technical adequacy of all work is reviewed during progress and on completion.
  • Knowledgeable in specific areas of drawing configuration, symbology, nomenclature, layout, level of detail, construction requirements, and document interaction.
  • Supervision of Cad Technicians to support ongoing multi-customer drawing revisions.
  • Assists with scoping and estimating design activities associated with design of new systems and modifications to existing systems.

Requirements :

Education: Associates or better in Engineering Technology.

Experience: 5 to 8 years of experience

Licenses & Certifications: Preferred: Auto CAD
