Ensuring the overall welfare of the hens. Effectively observes, monitors and reacts toactivities in the chicken houses by walking through the houses on a regular basis. Always ensuring the required andnecessary health measures for the hens.

Key Duties & Responsibilities: Includes the following. Other duties may apply or be assigned.

Ensures the overall welfare of the hens. Responsibilities include ensuring the following: adequate supply of feedand water and that the lighting system is functioning properly; immediately reports any problems to supervisor.

Reports & documents any equipment malfunctions to maintenance. Continues to walk rows while the belts arerunning. Operates manure belts on a daily basis according to the required (documented) run times. Ensures that ventbaffles are clean and opening/closing properly.

Notifies supervisor immediately when alarms trigger.

Operates safely and in a manner that mitigates any security issues, health risks to self, others and the livestock.

Checks the pit area for leaks and ensures that manure stays dry.

Monitors chicken houses for egg jams on conveyers. Performs lubrication on the belt chains.

Attends to ill birds and removes deceased birds on a daily basis - recording the daily dead bird count. Returns loosebirds to cages.

Accurately completes all checklists & other documentation according to schedule (daily, monthly, annually).

Ensures proper conveyer belt egg flow throughout the chicken houses (if applicable). Ensures proper ventilation &air curtain functions/operations.

Sweeps and cleans the chicken houses on a daily basis. Performs detail cleaning and blowing of the houses whenthe flocks are out.

Will fill in for House Supervisor when needed completing his/her job responsibilities in an accurate and timelymanner.

Will be required to perform sampling and other regulatory checks: ammonia reading, light intensity, egg quantity,bird weights, etc.

American Humane Society, UEP, FDA, Organic, EB compliant.

Will be assigned other tasks/duties as needed.

Helps drive all of BFFs Environment Management Systems (EMS) in an impactful manner to includemonitoring/reducing operationally related negative effects on the environment as well as pollution prevention.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred, or one to three months related experience and/or training;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
