- Designing and implementing GIS solutions for organizations to meet their business objectives
- Preparing maps and other visual representations of data using GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS
- Maintaining and updating the organization’s GIS database by adding new data sets and revising existing data sets
- Training users on how to use the GIS system so they can enter data or create maps on their own
- Developing custom automated scripts or applications to automate repetitive tasks such as data processing or code generation
- Researching new technologies, trends, and best practices related to GIS technology and applications
- Developing custom applications to meet users’ specific business needs
- Creating maps, charts, and other graphics to illustrate geographic information such as population density or disease transmission rates
- Providing technical support to clients regarding the use of GIS applications
