Scope of Works


There is a requirement for a suitably skilled Senior Mainframe Operator to provide support to the NTG Mainframe applications and systems. The successful candidate s primary focus will be to provide high level system support, monitoring and escalation and problem determination for Mainframe product lines. The primary platforms will be z/OS operating system and mainframe products including Control/M, Control/D, Control/O, Job Control Language (JCL), Customer Information Control Systems (CICS), Time Sharing Options (TSO) & Job Entry Sub System (JES2).


The candidate will be required to have experience to:

  • Perform Mainframe system IPL s

  • Monitor and manipulate job Batch Flow using the BMC ControlM product

  • Manipulate JCL to rerun failed jobs

  • Monitor and manipulate system automation using BMC ControlO product and be able to assist in diagnosis of issues as they arise.

  • Provide professional customer service support.

  • Ability to work within a team environment using an ITIL methodology, with a job allocation system.

  • Be self-motivated and have the ability to prioritise and schedule one s own work and provide regular updates to any outstanding job tickets.

  • Develop work instructions and other documentation as required.

  • Provide monitoring for a range of critical NTG assets and services.

  • By request, provide input in to project proposals and business cases.


Requirements

The Senior Mainframe Operator must be able to:

  • work under broad direction and be self-motivated

  • be accountable for meeting allocated technical and project objectives

  • perform an extensive range and variety of technical work activities

  • attention to detail to ensure tasks are carried out correctly as per instruction

  • undertake work which requires the application of fundamental IT principles in a wide range of contexts

  • follow defined processes and assist in future process development/improvement

  • advise on the standards, methods, tools and applications relevant to own skillset

  • demonstrate well developed communication skills and a collaborative approach to the delivery of outcomes

  • maintain a high level of performance and manage pressure in an environment of continuous change

  • mentor colleagues and participate in knowledge transfer as required

  • be creative and innovative with a focus on continuous improvement

Experience in a Data Centre environment and knowledge of environmental control systems within a Data Centre would be advantageous.

Note:This role is a Shift Work position and requires the successful applicant to work on site at the Data Centre in Darwin, there is no provision for remote work or work from home for this role.
