Production Supervisor

About the Opportunity:

We have an opportunity for a Production Supervisor (UK) at Ultraseal International, based in Coventry, UK with occasional travel to other sites.

Tasks

What will you do?

The Production Supervisor will report to the Sales Production Manager and to ensure that the operators working under their control do so safely and efficiently. To ensure that work is processed in line with customer required dates.

Responsibilities:

• Managing the day to day running of the Ultraseal Production Department, ensuring that all customer and production requirements are met, in accordance with all appropriate EHS and procedural requirements.
• Adopting and promoting all site EHS rules and initiatives, ensuring that safe working practices are followed at all times.
• Supervision of Production Department Team, offering day to day leadership and support.
• Identify areas for safety and process improvements and team members training needs/development.
• To work as a part of a rota system, processing customer orders, deliveries and manufacturing Ultraseal products.

Supervisory Key Tasks:

Health & Safety

• Conducting and recording weekly safety walkthroughs of the Production Department.
• Implementing and complying with all QH EHS Safety rules and initiatives.

People Management

• Conducting and recording daily production briefings with the Production Team.
• Assigning work to the Production Team ensuring all customer/production requirements are met
• Mentoring and support to Production Team.
• Identifying areas of improvement and training requirements for all Team members.
• Implementation & monitoring of Production Schedule as issued by Sales Production Manager.
• Employing time-management techniques to ensure efficient use of time.
• Manage Production Team absences (Sickness/Annual Leave) using HR Information System
• Ensure that all members of the team comply with company policies.
• Responsible for maintaining discipline up to and including Final Warning as per the company Disciplinary Procedure.
• Setting of objectives as per annual Quaker Houghton Goals and Objectives Programme
• Ensuring good house keeping (clean and tidy workspaces) at all times by all team members

Administration

• Update computer databases daily to capture production, sales and KPI data.
• Post completion processing of all sales works orders and manufacturing dockets.
• Reporting of any non-collections in a timely manner.
• Completion of all administrative requirements/requests in an efficient manner.
• Conducting monthly stock takes.
• Liaison with other departments as required.
• To provide high quality and timely communication at all times
• Ensuring adherence to the ISO9000 Quality System processes and procedures.
• Completion of all mandatory QH training as required (including but not limited to: - Compliance, SABA, EHS training).

Production Key Tasks:

• Manufacturing products in accordance with the procedures.

• Preparation, packing, labelling and despatching of sales orders.

• Ensuring goods are packed safely and in compliance with any regulatory requirements.

• Using computer software to generate product labels and other documentation as required.

• Loading/Unloading of despatches/receipts.

• Preparation, loading and unloading of shipping containers.

• Including working at height and confined spaces.

• Booking in procedures for goods inwards, including raw materials.

• Submission of both raw materials and finished goods to laboratory for approval prior to use.

• Compliance with stock rotation requirements.

• Ensure confidentiality at all times within the area of your responsibility.

• Fork lift truck use.

• Any other reasonable duties as required by Management.

Qualifications / Experience

Essential (must have)

• Previous supervisory experience
• The ability to work calmly under pressure
• Show good initiative and enthusiasm and lead by example
• 5S & Lean Manufacturing techniques
• Health and Safety knowledge
• English and Maths GCSE grade C or above or equivalent
• Good ICT skills (Microsoft)
• Hold a valid driving license
• Ability to read technical drawings

Desirable (nice to have)

• Previous experience of working in a production environment
