Head of Engineering

What we are looking for

For our new Fintech venture, beatvest, we are looking for an Engineering Lead to lead the further development of our investment app. Your responsibilities will range from writing code yourself, to building up your own team.

Tasks

Your Responsibilities

Based on your background and interests, we will discuss your exact focus areas, but potential tasks are to:

• Be hands on You ll be writing your own code and reviewing teammate's code, giving expert-level coaching and guidance to our team of engineers(70-80% of your work). This is the fundamental task you will be doing.
• You must have built mobile applications from zero before or at growth stage. You can argue your expert opinions about how systems should be architected, engineered, deployed and maintained.
• Do full-stack engineering so you should have hands-on experience in all parts of the technology stack: infrastructure, client-side, back end, performance, data, and others including API connections
• Have knowledge in a set of languages and services for example : for iOS: Swift objective C, swift UI - Cross-platform: React Native For backend Linux, AWS services. For code: PHP full stack, laravel framework, and for DB - MySQL, MariaDB, Postgres SQL
• Work in close collaboration with the Product, Community, Marketing, Content & leadership team to plan the engineering roadmap
• Take full ownership as own the product from the technology stand-point and ship features end-to-end. You will architect the technical design.
• Operate autonomously - you will make key engineering decisions, set technical KPI s
• Encourage Best Practices - you will drive best practices across the entire engineering cycle.
• Hire, manage, and grow a high-performing engineering team of talented engineers with diverse skills. You will help your team translate Product requirements into high-performance logical technical design and code and split the features into smaller tasks
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; thrives working in a highly iterative, agile, and open team environment
• Work well in stressful situations for example being able to collaborate in troubleshooting complex data, features, service, and platform issues and perform root cause analysis to proactively resolve product and operational issues
• You ll work well with our external partners, pose relevant questions to them and implement the APIs to high-performance standards
• Continuously monitoring application health and KPIs, support triage of any production issues as and when needed
• Drive solutions that would optimize cost and time to market and performance reviews across your team

• Communicative: You enjoy talking to people and making new connections. Fluency in English is required, and being able to speak German is a plus.
