  • There is going to be 4 (10 hour) work day week with mandatory OT on alternating weekends plus holidays
  • Possible limited domestic and International travel - Requirements 2- 3 weeks max in US, Mexico or Canada

Who we're looking for

  • Toyota's North America Safety Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Contractor Safety Representative for Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas (TMMTX).
  • The primary responsibility of this role is to support all aspects of TMMTX contractor safety program to ensure team member safety and regulatory compliance.
  • You will be required balance company-wide operational hoshin priorities with the obligation to team member safety and compliance through the translation of complex safety regulatory interpretations into actionable instructions and development of technically accurate, standardized safety policies, standards, and programs.
  • Reporting to the TMMTX Safety Project Manager, the person in this role will support the Toyota Safety department's objective to prioritize safety through standardization, achieve best safety performance, and an incident free workplace.

What you'll be doing

  • Work with and direct contractors to implement construction safety management systems and other safety requirements.
  • Provide safety leadership for both new and existing construction projects including structural steel, mechanical and electrical equipment installation, etc.
  • Lead weekly contractor safety representatives' meetings made up of trades working on the TMMTX site.
  • Conduct formal safety audits of activities related to construction and equipment installation via computer and phone applications.
  • Review contractor JSA's to confirm completeness and accuracy of work being performed.
  • Lead, support and participate in key safety initiatives at TMMTX.
  • Manage multiple reports for local, regional, and regulatory agencies, and internal/global reporting.
  • Calculate risks and challenge the status quo with deep analysis of the situation.
  • Develop and present PowerPoint presentations to communicate incident reports, work rule changes, plant status, etc.
  • Lead training for contractor orientation, conduct some compliance training for production employees such as Fall and Confined space
  • Participate in cross functional teams to conduct Incident Investigations.
  • Expectations to work every other weekend and be able to support holiday skilled shutdown activity.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading safety on construction projects with multiple trades.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects requiring critical thinking (kaizen), problem solving, data analysis & verification
  • Required OSHA 30 Construction Industry Outreach Program (U.S.)
  • Required OSHA 510 Construction Industry Standards (U.S.)
  • Required Knowledge of applicable consensus standards i.e., NFPA 70E/CSA Z462,
  • Preferred A recognized, independent third-party safety certification. Examples: CSP/ASP, SMS, CHST, STSC, CSHO, CSHT, etc.
  • Preferred OSHA 500 Construction Industry Train the Trainer (indicates the ability to communicate safety information to others) (U.S.)
  • Preferred Degree in Occupational Safety, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects requiring critical thinking (kaizen), problem solving, data analysis & verification
  • Capable of developing and delivering presentations, generating effective reports, conducting applicable standards research
  • Manage customer expectations and work to find mutually agreeable solutions
  • Strong computer, communications, and organizational skills
