Job Description

This is a remote position.

Job Summary:

We use online tax preparation software called DrakeZero. DrakeZero is the online version of Drake Tax. It may be hard to find someone with DrakeZero experience, the next best thing is someone with Drake Tax experience. If they don t have Drake Tax experience, having experience with other tax softwares would be ok but less preferred.


Job Responsibility:

Support
  • Provide on time, proactive, and fast support for in office personnel to help them handle client returns, whether during preparation or drop off. Ensuring an accurate return before delivering numbers is of utmost importance.
  • Be available - Time is of the essence when supporting offices with clients in front of them. It is expected that while the offices are open that you are available
  • During our busiest times, typically Jan 27-Feb 11 and April 7-15, we are open Mon-Fri 9am-8pm, Sat 9am-5pm and Sun 11am-4pm
  • Outside of our busy period, we are open approx M-F 10am-7pm and Sat 10am-5pm
  • Be responsive - With clients sitting in front of employees, pressure can be high, especially when the employee doesn t know how to handle a situation. They need fast responses even if you are doing other things, one has to be able to multitask.
  • Be a teacher - Employees don t know everything. Do not expect them to. Don't assume, even if they ve been around for a year or more, that they should or should not know something. We don t know what they ve been exposed to before. Identify those that prefer to be taught by showing vs listening
  • Be patient - Everyone absorbs and learns differently. Some learn best by listening, others by watching. Some need to hear things multiple times before it sinks in.
  • Doublecheck returns
  • Returns are to be checked no later than 24 hours after they ve been tagged Ready to File
  • Returns with Easy Advances attached should be checked and efiled within 4-6 hours of being completed

  • If returns need to be adjusted after the tax preparer has finished and presented numbers:
  • Its critical that a Slack channel is created, be very clear with the tax preparer what was done wrong, use screenshots to explain (Fusion and the documents where appropriate), plus refunds before and after the change.
  • If a customer needs to be contacted, typically that should be done by the tax preparer, not the entity manager, unless an exception applies.
  • The tax preparer may not know the best way to present the change to the customer and a phone call or slack message to the tax preparer may be needed to role play how best to communicate the adjustment.
  • Tax return preparation
  • For returns that are dropped off in stores that need your attention, these can be done at any time and should be prioritized as such. However, they should be done in a timely fashion as agreed upon with the client.

  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and give customers the best possible experience
  • Must have Fiber Optic internet with at least 25 Mbps bandwidth
  • Must have a backup desktop or laptop with the latest OS
  • Must be able to work from 10PM-7AM
