About the position
SERVIR-Amazonia is seeking a Communications Consultant to support the project s efforts to engage stakeholders, build a strong team and consortium, reach decision-makers, and raise the visibility of the Program for improved environmental decision-making. The Communications Consultant will work under the supervision of the Communications Coordinator and the Director of the Program to provide specific support in the production of the communication materials established under the Program Work Plans and Communications Plans approved by USAID, contributing to the production of high-level quality materials.
Key Responsibilities
Provide support in the preparation of communicational materials as needed under the Program work plans and activities
Support the Program components with communications activities and materials: Data and Science, Gender, social inclusion, partnerships, Capacity Building, and program management.
Maintain updated the communications channels of the Program: PMU (Program Management Unit) Dashboard, Website (WordPress), Twitter, LinkedIn, Photo album (Flickr), Bookmarking site (Pocket), Master Contact List.
Interact with the HQ (Alliance Bioversity International CIAT) Communications Unit for activities related to media and press relations, design of communications products, translations, web site management.
Support the preparation of communications reports, as part of the quarterly performance reports, on a quarterly basis, as well in the preparation of the annual work plans. Track communications products and monitor publications in media for reporting. Support production of annual reports and other documents as requested.
Coordinate as needed with other communications consultants of the Program (translators, editors, etc.)

Qualifications and requirements
Communications degree plus a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience (Amazonia, environment, geospatial tools)
Experience developing and implementing communication products
Expertise and professional experience with communications tools: WordPress, Flickr, social media, MailChimp
Fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written) (Portuguese desirable).
Experience with activities related to project communications
Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work as part of a team
Ability to work on own initiative with little direction, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize among multiple tasks
Solid knowledge with MS Office applications and Google drive
